Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is an unforgettable contest.
A group of wonderfully unique and impassioned adolescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.
A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful night of comedy and music.
Interested in competing in the Bee? Every performance needs audience volunteers. Here’s everything you need to know to BEE considered:
• For each performance, a few guest spellers are chosen from the audience!
• If you are interested, there is a brief interview. Come to the box office an hour before showtime. You’ll be asked a few questions, and then have time to grab a snack.
• Remember: You must already have a ticket in order to interview.
• We’ll announce the guest spellers at about 30 minutes before showtime.
• If you’re selected, we’ll give you some additional information on your next steps.
